Another Tunesday, another tune! I stumbled across Down South while preparing a previous Tunesday post, and almost immediately thought that the song needed it's Tunesday in the sun. Thanks to artists like KT Tunstall, Reggie Watts, Walk of the Earth, Kimbra, and Ed Sheeran, you're probably already aware of how loop pedals can take a performance - especially a live one - to the next level, and Jeremy Loops' live version of Down South is no exception. Before he begins, the native South African takes a moment to explain his craft, perhaps leading to an even greater appreciation of the skill it takes to create such a stellar track. While Loops calls himself a modern folk artist, he also says that what he does is "a mash-up of a number of genres, namely folk, reggae, hip-hop, gypsy-jazz," basically whatever keeps him smiling, and his carefree approach to his genre seems to overflow into his music, and Down South will likely leave you with a little extra pep in your step. Enjoy! Until next time...
