Another Tunesday is here again! If you ever read the little side bar over there >, you will have likely noticed that it says we'll have guest writers from time to time. The wait is over people! I present to you the work of the very first guest author on the OrangeMouth blog! Greetings OrangeMouth-ers (Is that a thing? Can it be a ‘thing’ please?), So this is my first post for Tunesday and I have searched far and wide for something that could be deemed worthy to your ears. Mansard Roof is the first single released by Vampire Weekend waaaay back in 2007. I was introduced to Vampire Weekend by a friend and genuinely thought they were an African band based on their instrumentation. Honestly, if you didn't know the band already, tell me where in the world you would guess they are from? Exactly. I later learnt that they were an American group comprising of band members with, Irish, Italian and Iranian ancestry, so yeah, far from Africa. However, all the band members have a shared love of African music (hence the vibe I picked up on), so I guess I wasn't totally off. With sounds from outside the British Isles, a video featuring the ocean, a sail boat, and plenty of SUN, nothing more could say summer is here! Mansard Roof is a nice upbeat track which hopefully will set the perfect tempo for the rest of your week. Enjoy! Simba M
